What are the ANCC nursing informatics certification requirements?
If you want to obtain this certification, you’ll need to pass the ANCC Informatics Nursing board certification examination first. To apply for this exam, you might meet these requirements first.
- Have an active RN license in the United States
- Possess a bachelor’s degrees or higher in nursing or a related field
- Practiced a minimum of 2 years full-time as an RN
- Completed 30 hours of continuing education in informatics nursing within the last 3 years.
- Meet one of the following practice hour requirements:
- Practiced a minimum of 2,000 hours in informatics nursing within the last 3 years;
or - Practiced a minimum of 1,000 hours in informatics nursing in the last 3 years and completed a minimum of 12 semester hours of academic credit in informatics courses that are part of a graduate-level informatics nursing program;
or - Completed a graduate program in informatics nursing containing a minimum of 200 hours of faculty-supervised practicum in informatics nursing.
- Practiced a minimum of 2,000 hours in informatics nursing within the last 3 years;
If you meet all of the above requirements, you are ready for the ANCC informatics nursing board certification exam.
