I’m a little of both. Just subtract all the hip things away from the geek side, and add the coolest aspects of the nerd on, and that’s me. Oh, and I’m a tad bit socially awkward. I know that many do not share my opinion in this, but I often long for those white uniforms. Though admittedly I became a nurse long after they went out of favor. So I would imagine that if it were something forced upon me as a way to oppress me my fondness would likely drastically decline. As much as I can appreciate having the freedom to choose scrubs in a variety of styles colors, deep down inside I admire the association of wearing white with the nursing profession. But it’s not the oppression or rigidity of nursing days gone by that I romanticized. It’s the image of strong, stoic women with integrity that just leaps off the page of the images of nursing days gone by.

Making money on the internet is not a myth. But it’s not as simple as paying $19.99 to have Freddy in India set you up a website and have it go on autopilot, either. Making money online takes work. Nothing worth having in this life is for free. And blogging for cash is no different.

Many people have looked to blogging as a way to generate income. When I first starting blogging I never ever thought about making money. For a very long time I felt as if I wasn’t supposed to make money from it. This sort of coincides with how I sometimes feel guilty that I get paid to work as a nurse. Something inside me always told me that people would or already were judging me harshly for receiving compensation for caring for others, or in this case, blogging.

In my years of bedside care I often had to go outside of the 30 minute window for timed medications for the benefit of the patient. Most of the times these times are arbitrary anyhow. If a medication is ordered once per day it doesn’t really matter what time of day the patient gets it. It should fit within their normal routine not within what the pharmacy schedules it. I never once received any sort of reprimand for my medication timing. I often had to request the scheduled times for medications be changed by the pharmacy, but many times I had to give the medication at a different time and documented the reason why.
