Determining the best white nursing shoes for women is not as cut and dry as you might think. There are a variety of factors that go into determining what makes the best nursing shoes. Every nurse’s feet are different, and there is no one size fits all option for nursing shoes. However, I’ve compiled a list of top-selling and highest-rated white nursing shoes that will go great with your Caribbean blue scrubs (or really, any scrubs).
Many nurses and nursing students have a single color choice when selecting nursing shoes: white. In most cases these nurses can wear any type and style they like as long as they are white. Many nurses who have to wear white shoes are discouraged by the limitation of their footwear. However, they shouldn’t despair. There are many stylish and fashionable white nursing shoes available to fit any budget. Whether you want a simple clog or a set of sleek leather Mary Janes, there is something for everyone. So without further delay, let’s get right to the best white nursing shoes.
Best White Nursing Shoes
1. Timberland Professional Women’s Renova Slip-On
- Timberland Pro exclusive Anti-fatigue technology offers all-day standing comfort, leg and back support, and superior shock absorption
- Heel-to-toe rocker sole reduces forefoot presure and aids in controlling proper joint motion through the ankles, knees, and hips
- SafeGrip slip resistant outsole grips both wet and dry surfaces, providing superior mobility
- Anatomically shaped athletic toe-box provides popular styling with superior comfort
- Bi-Fit Tridensity footbed chassis combines cradled heel and arch supprt with flexible forefoot for maximum support and versatility
I’ve written about the Timberland Renova Pro in the past, and I absolutely love them. They are some of the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever worn. I think a lot of that has to do with the anti-fatigue technology. It could also have something to do with the heel-to-toe rocker sole that reduces forefoot pressure and aids in controlling proper joint motion through the ankles, knees, and hips.

If you are a Sketchers fan, you will love these. Praised by walking enthusiasts and nurses alike, these shoes are a comfortable lace-up sneaker. They do come available in a wide, which is helpful if your feet swell after a long day. (We’d also recommend some compression hose to help with swelling.) Many state they keep buying this pair of shoes year after year.

4. Cherokee Women’s Exact Clog
These shoes are super comfortable and easy to slip on. Described by some as “walking on a cloud” they will help make long shifts more tolerable. Be aware they do not come in half sizes, and some have mentioned they squeak. But overall, most agree these are an excellent pair of shoes for the money. One Amazon reviewer even stated she has these shoes in 6 different colors!

Reason to Buy: stylish and comfortable, foot bed contours to your feet
5. Crocs Women’s Mercy Clog
- Find Your Size: We recommend sizing up (e.g. if you are a 7.5, size up to an 8)
- Work Clogs for Women: Neria is dependable and ready to make the rounds with protection and comfort every step of the way. These are the work Crocs women need for long days and nights.
- Easy to Clean: Crocs Neria Pro II Clogs are easy to clean by just using soap and water and allowing for a quick dry. The updated style includes removable, washable footbed liners.
If you like to wear Crocs in your off time, these are a great option to wear to work. They do not have the holes that traditional Crocs are known for but do have the open feel in the back. They are an inexpensive option for nursing students who need a pair of white nursing shoes with their uniform and receive favorable reviews for comfort.

6. Dansko Women’s Professional Box Leather Clog
- Slip-on work shoe featuring leather upper and chunky heel with platform
- PU outsole for durability and shock absorption; To confirm the correct size and a proper fit, there should be about a pinky finger width between your heel and the back of the clog
- Protective TPU heel counter allows the heel to move up and down freely while providing lateral stability
I’ve meet so many nurses who simply swear by white leather Danskos. In fact, they were my very first pair of nursing shoes. I received them as a gift from my mother and also received many compliments on them. They do come in European sizes, and they also have a hard sole, (some find this difficult to get used to) however, they are some of the best shoes around when it comes to preventing back pain.
Cost: $$$ Rating: 3.8 Stars Material: Leather Fit: As Expected
Reason to Buy: Support your back, prevent pain from standing
7. Cherokee Women’s Patricia Step In Shoe
- Slip-on walking shoe with leather upper featuring moisture-absorbent lining
- Slip resistant
These shoes are similar in style to Dansko, but are more lightweight and about half the price. Many with foot injuries or other forms of “bad feet” state that these are the only shoes they can wear comfortably. They do have a break in period but are great after that. The insoles are removable, if you’re interested in that sort of thing.
Cost: $$ Rating: 3.8 Stars Material: Leather Fit: As Expected
Reason to Buy: slip resistant, padded collar, light weight
8. crocs Women’s Neria Work Clog
- Slide-on clog featuring padded Croslite footbed and logo button on side
Look, we didn’t think that Crocs would make this list once, let alone twice. But frankly, these aren’t the garden shoes you are familiar with. These are a solid clog with a back that is easy to clean and super comfortable. These have a relaxed fit and your heel will move up and down as you walk, as with many clogs. These are another option that has the look of Danskos but are considerably less, especially on Amazon.
Cost: $$ Rating: 3.8 Stars Material: Croslite Fit: As Expected
Reason to Buy: comfortable, easy to keep clean, slip-resistant
We’re confident that this list includes some of the best white shoes for nurses and nursing students. Although, this is by no means a conclusive list of all the options available. We’d welcome your feedback so we can research your favorite pair.

Britney,
Maybe a well thought out list on some counts, but Any sort of “Standard” nursing shoes, especially clogs are just plain and ugly. . . . Nothing personal. .
TheNerdyNurse How about some cheap but durable nursing shoes, especially for fresh nurses? Might be useful for beginners. Thanks for this awesome post! 🙂
@Nurse Gail Ingram That’s awesome!
Scotch Guarding your nursing shoes is a FAB idea!
@Senior Home Care It’s nice that they don’t pick the exact shoe, though, right? How horrible would that be?
@Sarah at Home Assisted They are the BEST!
They’re so comfortable and you can wear them all day without your feet hurting.
@Mike Glover
Thank you so much!
I was surprised myself, but they really are comfortable. Crocs get a be rep, but there are many styles that are both comfortable and professional.
I hope your students find the information helpful. 🙂
Hi Brittany!
Very well written and informative article! I agree with you that I honestly thought Crocs would not make the list once, let alone twice, but if they made your list, we’ll be sure to give them a try!
Going to share this with student body and faculty! They’ll love it!

TheNerdyNurse yes they R! You can still get them in white online. My other fav is from calzuros I still have both shoes. Both comfy
lestrella3 I bet the open clogs are amazing. I had the closed back and didn’t like it as much as I wanted to 🙁
I use Twitter to tweet photos of great white shoes when I see them while out shopping. I like the Van’s at JCrew for $45. I spray them with some Scotch Guard to repel spills. I also tweet some pics of the worst nursing shoes for a laugh.
TheNerdyNurse when I had to #6 dansko was my pick! I had the open clog it was the best shoe ever!! Still wear fun printed closed back!
