Johnson and Johnson are continually promoting the nursing profession in a positive light. They highlight nurses and really make me proud of the profession. So when they reached out to me and asked me to be a part of their episode series which highlights real nurses telling about why they love nursing, I was a ball of emotions: honored, thrilled, and tiny bit nervous. It’s one thing to blog, tweet, and in general hide behind a computer. It is quite another to be in videos on YouTube with no cute cartoon character to represent The Nerdy Nurse brand.
These videos are but a small part of the wonderful contribution to nursing that the Johnson & Johnson Campaign for Nursing’s Future has brought to the table.
Here you can see myself and other nurses from around the country and various specialties of nursing discuss why we are passionate about nursing. In these 4 videos the topic of “How I go into nursing” is covered.
How I Got Into Nursing:
Johnson & Johnson Social Media
I encourage you to check out Johnson & Johnson’s Nursing Notes Facebook Page to connect with other nurse and to see more content for nurses and much of it by nurses. You can also check out Johnson & Johnson’s Health Channel on YouTube for more great video content. The video content here ranges from general health information to motivational pieces for nurses. It is definitely worth a scroll through and subscribing to their channel. Plus, I’ve met the folks that make the channel happen and they are great folks who are doing great work.
New Media Shows Real Nurses
With so many actors playing and portraying us in their Hollywood style, it is certainly nice to see real nurses discuss talk about being nurses. A positive image of nursing and storytelling are powerful tools to promote this fantastic profession.
A Love of Nursing
I honestly never though I would love nursing as much as I do. I never knew the opportunities it would bring me or the joy it would bring to my life. Nursing has made me a better person. It has softened my rough edges, warmed my heart, and shown me the beauty of life and death. I certainly wouldn’t have guessed any of this when I originally announced to my mother I was going to become a nurse and her initial reaction was “But you’re so hateful.”
But that is a blog post for another day…
How did you get into nursing?
I’d love to hear what sparked your interest in nursing. If you’re a student, what made you want to go to nursing school? If you’re well seasoned, what makes you love it?
Full disclosure: I have not received any compensation from Johnson & Johnson to write this post. I was blessed by their generosity and received a scholarship to blog world expo where I was able to connect with talented and dynamic individuals in the realm of healthcare social media. They did not request I write this post, and I am doing so of my own inclination. I truly feel that Johnson & Johnson do great things for the nursing profession. In my humble opinion they have done more to promote a positive image of nursing to the general public than any other organization. I am proud to share with all of you the positive messages they have to share with and about nurses.
