Call Me a Social Media Advocate, I’ve Created Another Blogger!

My husband introduced me to the joyful addiction that is twitter. I guess I decided that I needed a little more than 140 characters to express myself, and I started blogging shortly after. Something about being able to sit in the bathroom and anonymously tweet my job frustrations just wasn’t enough for me.

In the beginning of my blogging, twittering, and other social media exploits, I was very nervous to be identified by people who knew me in real life. I have written extensively here about my workplace and conflicts that have occurred, and I’m still not 100% sure how they might interpret them. And while I wouldn’t adore the idea of someone pulling up my blog in front of my boss, I do know that I stand behind the things I have said, and my message, for the most part, is a positive one.

I blog with integrity. I live my life with integrity. Nursing is about integrity. That’s one of the many reasons why I feel I choose both a noble and fitting profession. If I wasn’t already honest, nursing would force it out of me.

My husband and I have been talking a lot about integrity. We have talked about how important it is to be honest with both yourself and others. With honesty and transparency there is never a need to be overwhelmingly concerned with privacy.  Because of this, we have grown to be fairly comfortable with our online personas. We are the people in life that we present ourselves as online. There is no need to juggle your image when you’re image one of integrity.

Through theses talks my husband had a realization that he had things he wanted to say and desired a forum in which to say them in.

So what does this nerdy nurse go and do for him? I made him a blog!

I know, you love the name! We do too! A stroke of genius by my husband made that possible and now he has a way to connect with others and discuss things that are important to him.

So what is important to him?

Family. Technology. Understanding. Humor. and multitude of other “tags” and “categories” and be SEO –ing it up in no time. He’s already lying awaked in bed with his mind bubbling over with ideas and topics.

OH he just doesn’t know what’s in store for him.

  1. unfortunately i have stayed in the dark. Not that I care if family and friends see my blogs. those that I trust are on my livingdeadnurse fb so that they can get updates to when i blog. But work scares me. they have fired people for just stating that work sucked tonight. So i remain some what anonymous. Just found your blog…loving it.

    • I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t still a bit nervous about what my employer would think of my blog. But I do know that as a nurse that finding employment shouldn’t be too much of a challenge. In addition to that, there are some employers who embrace blogging and social media and understand the value.
The only people I have really ever been concerned with reading this are the actual bullies who lead to the creation of this blog. But they aren’t very internet savvy, so I don’t see that happening.
Glad you enjoy my blog. Have been hoping to yours from time to time for a little while now.
