I am dumbfounded by what is going on in Egypt. I must admin, I don’t know as much about the situation as I would like, but I do know they they shut down the internet for a week or so, and that the president (who had apparently been president since 1981, after he was APPOINTED to vice president, and then the president at that time was shot… whoops, he just BECAME presidnet) just resigned on Febuary 11th,2011.
Apparently the Egyptian government somehow thought turning off the connection to the outside world would make the protests go away. Hah… that just made people who would normally stay home and blog or tweet, get outside join in the protesting in the flesh!

This video was stricking to me, mostly becuase they all have white dots in the middle of their eyes and I’m thinking it was some sort of creative videography that kept me focused, when I normally would just fastforward to the end. Seriously, look at their eyes, mesmerizing, or creepy, I can’t decide… But what I do know is that it’s upsetting to me that we have some many freedoms and other do not. Everyone like’s to say how horrible it is in America, and there is always room for improvement, but at least we don’t have our leaders forced upon us. We get some say in their rise to power.
I have joked for a while to some of my nursing friends that I wanted to become the Nurse General one day… even though technically that role doesn’t yet exist. I mean we have a surgeon general, and attorney general, so what not a nurse general? I don’t however think that many nurses do much politicing, but I think, someday at least, I would like to be involved in the “big picture”. I’m 25 now and feel I don’t have near the life experience to help make the decisions that many politicians do, but someday, maybe, just maybe, I could help to make big changes for nurses, patients, healthcare, and well just about anything that effects everyone. I would certainly have the ability to have a stronger voice in matters and be able to stand up for those who ignored or afraid.
I’m thankful we do not have to deal with the lack of freedoms present in Egypt and one day I may just want to have a desire to be a little more vocal on a much bigger stage about the issues.

Yeah, if Hosehead Mubaric wanted to stay in power, he shouldn’t have shut down the Internet. He should have let everyone stay at home and Tweet, Facebook and surf for porn as long as their hearts desired.
