I’ve Been Here Forever and Things Will Never Change

I really hate attitudes like this.

I seem to work with a few nay-sayers who always want to complain about things, but then refuse to acknowledge that change is possible, and honestly seem to hate the prospect of it. Healthcare is ever-evolving. We have to embrace innovation and look to our future in order to ensure the best patient care possible.

I am so tired of hearing people “bitch” about issues that are bothering them in relationship to their jobs and inadequacies that they experience but yet refuse to put any real effort in to making things better. What’s worse is these people also love to tell motivated individuals they will fail. Misery truly loves company and it seems their goal is to have every individual they interact with be as miserable as they are.

I don’t wish any ill will on anyone. I believe a negative attitude attracts negative experiences. If you look for negative things, you will find them, because they are there. However, if we reverse this nay-saying mindset and look for positive things, well surprise, surprise, you will find them as well. And you know what, your life will be much more fulfilled and you will be happier if you’d quit trying to bring others down, be pleasant to those around you, and even if you’re not willing to do the leg work yourself, kindly quit pissing in the cheerios of those who are willing.

Be positive, things can change, for the better. Things will change for the better and if you would kindly quit raining on my parade, it would be a lot easier for me to improve both our lives, improve the standard of patient care, and make our workplace a more effectice and attractive to our us all.

In short, if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.

  1. absolutely agree with you here! I have “changed up” my area/place of nursing in the past q2 years or so and thus, I love change. I loved the move to computer use, anything to make our job easier and more efficient and a better experience for our patients. Some people are stuck in a rut and can’t see outside their own misery, unfortunately. I look at change as a good thing….and I have been nursing for 33 plus years!

    • I am so pleased to hear that even though are an exceptionally season nurse you still embrace change and technology.

Im sure you know, but many in your cohort do no have the same desire to utilize technology that you have expressed.
Thank you for being proactive and embracing change

Although I disagree with the “if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all” line, I do believe there is a right way and a wrong way to voice opinions and concerns. Many people do bring up valid points and unfortunately, their past experiences have conditioned them to act the way they act now. HOWEVER, that being said, there are some people who just want to bitch for the sake of bitching and only feel good when they bring others down. As much as I understand about the human condition, it is still hard for me to deal with these people. I just want to smack them!

Amen to that!  I think I was so angry for so long after my accident because I was sucking up angst energy from the pissy people I was surrounded by.  The negativity was causing my stress to be worse, my pain to be worse, and my ability to strive for acceptance was nil because of people and THEIR nay-saying.  Now that I have changed the people, places, and things around me… I am a happier person by 80%.  Attitude is everything, you are so right!!!

    • Karma, “The Secret”, The Golden rule, Do unto others… they are all the secret of living a happy life.

If you look for bad things, you will find them.

If you look for good things, you will find those too.

We are all guilty of being downers on occasion, but for the sake of the world, and our own sanity, we should at least try to think positive.

“If you build it they will come” – not just appropriate in a cheesy baseball movie.
