I wrote recently about my son’s tongue tie diagnosis and surgery and how when we came home we were greeted by 2 big boxes of toys. Ty and I both equated it to winning the toddler lottery. How delighted and honored we were to be selected to host a MommyParties event featuring MegaBloks.
So I called up my closets mommy friends and told them to haul their children on over for some play time and free toys. After having to explain to every one of them, sometimes more than once, that I wasn’t trying to sell them anything, they agreed and much fun was had by all. Still, everyone wanted to know when the sales pitch was coming, which I guess is understandable. I mean, I really think I could have got the women to buy anything, since I helped to entertain their little ones for a few hours. But I resisted the urge.
MegaBloks and MommyParties really did all the work on this one. Right down to a list of recipes and games for the tots. They even included a rad pirate ship to be given away as a prize! Have to say though, we hated to see it go, and we almost gave away the table instead! We also had giveaway / sweepstakes entry forms and catalogs for the moms to browse. Christmas time is coming and we saw a few things in there we’re probably going to pick up!
Ty and the others had so much fun playing with the blocks. The other parents were impressed by the fact that the company was so generous and their opinions of the products were definitely improved because of this. The brightly colored, safe, and attractive blocks provided ample entertainment and everyone got to go home with some of their own!
It was hard for my little boy to part with the 10 little vehicles, since well, he goes by toddler rules, and in case you don’t know them, here is a minimal version of the massive list:
Toddler Rules:
- If I like it, it’s mine.
- If it’s in my hand, it’s mine.
- If I can take it from you, it’s mine.
- If I had it a little while ago, it’s mine.
- If it’s mine, it must never appear to be yours in any way.
- If I’m doing or building something, all the pieces are mine.
- If it looks just like mine, it’s mine.
- If I think it’s mine, it’s mine.
Obviously since Ty loves the MegaBloks, he assumed they were all his! This is a good reminder to me and the hubs that we probably need to consider some form of socialization for him so he isn’t trying to beat up the other kids in school for taking “his” glue. Then again he is so small, I doubt he’s going to do much beating… screaming and crying maybe, but very little beating.
Just in case you didn’t know, boxes can sometimes be just as fun as the toys inside. This was of course, no exception!
I appreciated the opportunity to share these toys with my friends and family and to entertain our kids for a few hours. We all need a little while to just sit without our 20 month old sitting on your head/hands while you try to check your email, eat, or do anything else other than play with them.
What?
You’re kid doesn’t sit on your head while you try to use your iPad?
What a resourceful little booger I have then.
Thank you to MegaBloks and MommyParties for giving me this opportunity.
Disclosure: I received MegaBloks as part of a promotional campaign sponsored by MegaBloks and organized by MommyParties. I was not given monetary compensation or asked to give a positive review. Any opinions expressed in this post, or this blog, are my own. Pictures of my child are of my child, pictures of other children have been omitted to protect their privacy and safety, as I didn’t feel it pertinent to have every mommy sign a media disclosure.

Those aren't toddler rules, they're life rules!
I like your style Drake!
LOL… Yup, I recognize those rules. Thank goodness I'm almost pass that stage entirely. My youngest is almost 4 and although she still fights with two of her siblings over what belongs to who, I can see a light at the end of the tunnel. Well… sorta! LOL
Sounds like a great party and playdate. We had ours a couple of weeks ago. Have a great week.
