In case you were wondering, my kid is still spoiled.
At this point though I’m wishing he would behave more like a kid (you know the baaah kind) and ad a little more variety to his diet. At 18 months he would go all day and not eat a thing if its not what he wants. And what is wants is cheerios for breakfast, yogurt for lunch, maybe a French fry or 2 at dinner, and a chocolate pudding for a snack. On a rare occasion I can squeeze a chicken nugget or maybe a green bean in there.
Occasionally there are flood gate days. Once every couple of weeks Ty will have one good day of eating. Those days are awesome. He is so happy and content and plays by himself, doesn’t need to be held constantly, and sheds very little tears. He’s full and content and it is nice.
But more often than not, he’s on a hunger strike.
In our house, hunger means hurtful. We are all incredibly testy and hateful when we need to eat. It never fails, if my husband or I are having a bad day, being mean to everyone, its usually because we haven’t eaten. We eat and the mystery phantom PMS (male or female) symptoms vanish and we join the realm of functional human beings.
We’ve resorted to labeling the house in a effort to teach Ty to speak and eventually read because even though he wants you to sit and read to him, he wont actually leave it on a page long enough to do so. If you manage to get the words of the page out, you can forget pointing to and naming the objects on the page. He just doesn’t have time for that.
Often times he completely ignores me. He is focused on whatever it is he is doing and my requests are insignificant background chatter. But he’s so social and involved most times, so I don’t think there is a problem with him. I think he’s just ignoring me! In fact, I’m pretty sure he understand 95% of the things I tell him and he chooses what to respond to and what to ignore.
Ty must be pretty advance, because I thought the brick-wall stage didn’t start until they were teenagers.
My goodness do I have many interesting years to look forward to, but how I love that boy.
