Woke up this morning lucky to be alive, again

The difference between this time and the last is the fact that the event actually woke me this tie, verses the last time when I remained sleeping peacefully until whenever I rustled my own self out of bed.

After being abruptly awoken with a crack, crash, boom, my husband immediately asked “was that the porch falling off?” Luckily no, and I was pretty sure it wasn’t. I was actually thinking it was the tree that had already fallen , falling down of the ledge on which it was perched.

Oh look, you can actually see its brother there still standing up beside the house. Guess at some point today I’ll go take a picture for the same angle today and see what the house looks like now. Actually, I’m not looking forward to it, as that porch structure is quite and eyesore, and was being camouflaged by that tree.
What amazes me about both of these trees is how close they were to the house, one of them most likely older than the house itself, and the other, probably planted when the house was built. The one that fell today was so close to the house that whenever that porch was built, it was actually cut to accommodate the tree, which is mind boggling to me anyways.

So the first tree that feel, we never even heard. In fact I woke up that morning and was pissed off that I heard chainsaws. I went outside to see what the ruckus was, and was going to complain, as I though someone else’s tree was in my yard only to discover I was being done a favor by a city road crew. I ate crow humbly, of course.
As you can see from that second picture, the first tree looks like it was plucked of of the earth. The tree itself did not break, the roots just came up out of the ground and the tree fell over. It disrupted a rock wall to a flower garden, but the rock foundation remains sound. There’s a huge 6 feet hole under where the roots were.
Today’s tree snapped in half. and looks like it was twisted off and then over. Also, the inside of it was hollow, which makes me wonder how long its been like that. What kills me is that both trees looked living and well, with lots of green leaves and whatnot.

Someone surely must be watching over me, because this makes 2 times that my family and I have been saved by a tree falling gracefully in the opposite direction. I am so thankful for that. I must be meant to do something in this world, as God has seen fit to keep me around.
