I would like to say that I did alot of throwing away today, but alas, I am sad to say I did not. I di however get a pretty large pile of baby gear up to take to the consignment store. Hopefully we can get at least a few dollars for them to buy Ty some new clothes. I was actually able to accomplish a good bit today. ![]()
- Washed, dried, hung all the laundry
- cleaned and organized Ty’s room, lowered the crib mattress (even though he has never slept in there) so we can attempt naps in his bed, and removed almost all the items in his room that did not belong. This picture is actually the only time he has ever been in his crib, and you can see the plethora of items in there surrounding him. I’m pretty ashamed of that, but it looks great now. I will take pictures tomorrow. Really, you would all be very proud of me.
- Hung a shelf in the laundry room (well my husband did that, but I did some good instructing and pointing), did some caulking, and reorganized some linens.
- Threw some things away and did a tiny bit cleaning in the craft room
- Emptied all the trash in the house and bleached the trashcans
- Tidied up the living room and bathroom a bit, including organizing the game system controllers and making sure game discs were in the right place
The funny thing is with all that I still somehow managed to completely ignore the kitchen. My husband emptied the dishwasher and that’s pretty much all we did in there. It is a bit messy and could definitely use some attention but I am very proud of what I accomplished today.
We have really got to get our basement cleaned up and organized. My husband says he is going to work on it soon, as he has trashed alot of it during his workouts. Bottles, cans, papers, everywhere. I cleaned up the part I had trashed already. There are places where moisture collects when It rains hard so we need to make sure that we keep those areas clean. I really want to get some peg boards and more shelving to organize our tools and other random household items. He is finally for this and I am super excited. I am just hoping they don’t cost an arm and a leg. Unfortunately, almost any home improvement or organization object always seems to cost gobs of money. It is very expensive to keep stuff. I would probably be able to save alot more money if I wasn’t always spending it on storage options. Which, that reminds me that I really need to do something about my pantry situation. The plastic shelving unit inside the closet leaves alot to be desired.
What I did not get done today was go to CVS and Rite Aid. There are some really good diaper deals at both and I’m trying to keep my supply up. I hope to never have my husband come home with a box of full price diapers ever again. It makes my stomach tighten into knots just thinking of it. I can think of a hundred other things that we could use the money on : More diapers, for one. I also did not organize my coupons that have been sitting. They are clipped and separated into food and non-food, but they really need to be further separated and filed. I think I may wait till the 31st to do this, as there will be many expired to pull that day. As much as I love saving the money (because it does make a huge difference) sometimes it is such a hassle. Especially when Ty wants to tear them all to pieces because you he wants to be held and that’s all that will appease him.
So I moved and cleaned alot of stuff, and threw away about 1 large garbage bag full of trash, and useless things. I have a box or two of items to donate and a box of linens, a box of dishes, and a box of clothes. I am slowly trying to conquer my hoarding. It is getting better. The house is alot easier to keep clean these days and I find myself having a much easier time locating items. It is very hard to put things back in there place. I have such a terrible habit of just putting things down and leaving them wherever I last used them. I often have to force myself to do this.
